Some history
Founder

After serving this country in World War 1 with the Royal Canadian Artillery, 54th Battery, the founder of Stokes - International, Bill Stokes, started Stokes Caps and Regalia in 1949.
His choice of dedicated craftsmen and women in the beginning helped to set the company on a successful journey of producing quality products and legendary service.

Police Supply, Police Gear CanadaIn 1961, Lloyd Mellor, Bill Stokes’ son-in-law, took over the company upon Bill’s death and continued the philosophy of building a company with quality products, knowledgeable craftspeople and exemplary customer service.

David Mellor, the grandson of the founder and now the president, stated, “my grandfather and his team pioneered the redesign of the stiff, uncomfortable uniform hats of the day into light-weight flexible uniform caps, making our caps the most requested hats in the industry”.

The company has expanded the product offering to include several exciting new merchandise items such as; Years of Service Awards, Watches, Rings, Decals, Ball Caps, T-Shirts…and much more under David Mellor. Now the company also offers the tools to help customers with templates for custom-designed regalia. Mr. Mellor stated, “This web site with a shopping cart is an innovation that is dynamic and will improve every month as we strive to become your number one resource.   In the coming months, watch for a Knowledge Center with articles on innovation, ‘how to’ and applications that affect you. Stokes is committed to a ‘continuous improvement’ philosophy that will improve your overall experience dealing with our company”.

Our business

Stokes-International has grown exponentially in the past few years, thanks largely to the Internet. In addition to selling across Canada, Stokes now has customers in Australia, England, Germany, France, USA, Jamaica, Bahamas, Belgium and many more locations around the world.

The Police and Fire departments have come to trust Stokes for police gear, police supply and fire department supplies because they have been an integral part of maintaining and enhancing these Canadian departments’ traditions for over 60 years. Major buyers like government ministries have discovered Stokes and the military have found it a great resource for preserving their traditions also. If you’re a Fire Chief, Police Chief or a purchasing agent sourcing police gear or fire gear you will find a variety of products at Stokes. Stokes has the quality products, the selection you want, friendly service and the knowledge to help you to find what you need.
